How to change resolution on windows XP?

To be specific, I have connected a 22%26quot; Horizon (LG) 2206sw lcd monitor onto an older computer (with a nvidia FX5200 graphic card) via dsub-15 (VGA) connector.

My problem is that i cannot set the native resolution (1680x1050) but only other resolutions.

I have tried with powerstrip and multires and even modifying with regedit those values.. no effect. Maybe i am doing something wrong

Maybe installing the monitor driver may help (but from where?)

I don't have DVI connector on the graphic card. How to change resolution on windows XP?
Your resolution is limited to your video card %26amp; you have maxed yours. How to change resolution on windows XP?
Your video card must support inative resolution (1680x1050) . You will need to upgrade that video card. How to change resolution on windows XP?
I'm no PC expert but here are my two cents. Just make sure that the video card that you buy to replace your current one is Direct x 9 compatible since Windows XP runs on that. Most of the newer video cards run on Direct x 10(Vista). On the plus side, they're cheaper than dirt because of it;)
