Mega Malware/Hijacking my browser. HELP?

I'm lucky I was able to even post this question. I've tried downloading numerous spyware/malware removers. They either don't find and fix the problem, or the virus/malware blocks the program from contacting the server to download, or re-directs me from any and all sites that have the download links on them. I've tried hijack this but don't really know how to read the log. I am quite PC literate but this one's got me. Even google won't work. Firefox won't load any pages at all. Smitfraud removed some stuff but it's still just as bad. I checked regedit, msconfig and don't see Gator or anything like that in there. I've deleted cokies, temp internet files etc. Rebooted in safe mode and ran smitfraud again with no success. When i try to run Smitfraud in standard mode it says access is denied. When i try going on certain or almost all sites (especially if i click on them from a search engine i get re-directed 4 or 5 times as i can see the links quickly changing in the address bar. It sometimes goes from really long links i can't catch all of it but keywords in the links are %26quot;jump1%26quot; then %26quot;jump2%26quot; then nexplore.com... i did it again and now i have jump1 jump2 affiliate then http://www.gijoesradioelectronics.com/....................... I try to go to PC tools or other online scanning sites and it always says internet explorer cannot display the webpage, and again i've downloaded firefox just to try to get on them and just have a white screen.... I really hope an expert or at least someone more savy than me reads this and feels like being a good samaritan. Any advise would help.Mega Malware/Hijacking my browser. HELP?
try running your scans from safe mode (hit F8 on startup to get into safe mode) if you need to download another program make sure you boot into safe mode with networking.

A Trojan virus is faulty computer program that can infect remote computers by changing the desktop or deleting important files. Generally called a Trojan Horse, it appears as a legitimate file or software from a trusted source, therefore tricking users into opening it or downloading it. Okay, so i've gotten a tad too eager with some registry editing (i'm a complete noob, btw) and i've went and performed 5 registry tweaks all at once. I cant remember what they exactly all were, but they all involved HKEY _CURRENTUSER and HKEY_LOCAL or whatever. Anyway, my laptop (EeePC) has went to ****. I could tell there was a problem when i rebooted to clarify the changes and stuff came up on start up saying 'could not open ACU file' or something and other miscellaneous computer stuff. My pc is extremely slow, and there is a million things going wrong with it. For example, a lot of stuff isnt appearing, like the stuff in control panel and the some storage cards and drives in my computer. A lot of shortcuts in the start menu are incapacitated; half the system32 folder is missing. Anyway, the computer is irrtreviable. I cant system restore because the only shortcut i know to it 'Accessories - System Tools' is hence unworkable. I cant restore the registry because the folder containing back ups, when clicked, says ' inaccessible.not enough system resources to open' or something. and Run - Regedit doesnt even work anyway.

Already tried last known good configuration. How can i solve this problem? Am i gunna have to load reapplicate the OS?

It is maybe possible to do a repair by booting with an XP CD but it will be very time consuming and may not work in the end.

Better to start again. Boot with the XP CD, delete the Windows partition, format and reinstall.

The SDHC card may have had its data corrupted. A format will fix this but you will lose any data on it.

How can I play on live in halo 2 for XP?

I purchased halo 2 vista, played it on a vista laptop for a while, my laptop broke and I was forced to play it on my home computer with XP. I personally didn't like vista and don't plan on changing back so I found a crack to run halo 2 on XP it worked but i had 2 problems

    These problems were:

-When playing campaign it says I cant get my achievements unless I restart, when I restart it repeats the process.

-When I try to play with people on live it joins the lobby I hear them It tries to join the game and it asks for me to put the original disk in.

-When I try to create my own server it does the same.

BTW: It has never asked me to enter my CD code so I looked that up online and found out that I could enter it in regedit. How can I play on live in halo 2 for XP?

URGENT, PLZ HELP ME!! i asked this question before too, but was asked to provide more detail, so here it is...?

now this is what i did actually,

i was the administrator of my computer, to not allow other users to view my contents, i changed my security settings,

after that every time i tried to open c drive, access denied was displayed, even i was administrator,

i searched for solution on net and found one,

it said to give all my settings to other account(in that case it was guest account),

without having second thought i started my computer in safe mode,

started run program, typed regedit and gave my settings to guest account(which doesnt existed in my computer),

tried opening c drive in normal mode, nothing happened,

then again i started my computer in safe mode, gave all my controls to guest account and also removed all other account from the list of users,

after that i tried to run my laptop in normal mode, but this time windows wouldnt open, none of the user account appeared, as i removed all of them from the list and gave my settings to guest accunt which never existed.

just a black screen with cursor, nothing else.

than, i tried to reinstall the windows but couldnt figure how to do it??

help me plzURGENT, PLZ HELP ME!! i asked this question before too, but was asked to provide more detail, so here it is...?
If you can, go back into safe mode (should log you in as the %26quot;guest account%26quot; now that you've given it admin). Next go to user accounts, and create a new account (name it whatever you want obviously) and make it an administrator account with full permissions. Next add a password to the account, and then restart the computer in normal mode.

You should get the log in screen come up, with guest account and your newly made account. Log in with your account, then disable the guest account by going to user accounts and clicking on the guest account option.

Failing this you can restore the computer to its factory settings, which does not require you to be able to log in (unless you have an Acer, yeah thats right the stupid company made a stupid failsafe) anyway...once you do this, it will start up as if its just come out of the box (although it will still be the same computer, so any scratches will remain :P) and then you can make an account etc.URGENT, PLZ HELP ME!! i asked this question before too, but was asked to provide more detail, so here it is...?

How do I found out what my virus is called?

I have a virus on my computer. I don't even know how I got it, it just started acting up earlier today. I've looked up so many ways on how to delete it %26amp; most of them I have to find the virus in a folder. I don't know what my virus is called though. I can't open task manager, or regedit, or msconfig, or command prompt. The virus shuts it down a second after I open it! I keep getting pop ups saying %26quot;Antivirus software alert!%26quot; %26amp; it's saying that my computer is being attacked by an internet virus %26amp; it asks if I want to block the attack. But that thing popping up IS the virus. I also keep getting %26quot;Spyware Alert!%26quot; pop ups saying my computer is infected with spyware - 34 %26amp; it asks if i want to %26quot;Activate Your antivirus software%26quot; but thats a virus too. Also when i try to open task manager or whatever a thing pops up saying %26quot;Application cannot be executed. The file wualuclt.exe is infected. This is either Antivirus Live or a recent varient of it. Because of varying Malware names, its impossible to track down a specific guide since taskmanager doesn't work

Instead follow this guide which will make use of a command called taskkill. NOTE: When you use it, everything but your background image will disappear. This is a good thing, as it kills the virus temporarily. It allows you to open task manager, the guide will explain in more detail.

You can use a Recovery Disk, if you have a good computer (Not infected with a virus) goto http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/12/avira_antivir_rescue_system.html download that burn it onto a cd.

Then place the cd into the infected computer, and restart and boot from cd (hit F12 before when the computer is starting up).

Run that (it might be in a different lanquage as in German, click the English flag) I was told to go into preferences and make it try to delete the virus if not rename it.

Run a scan, then install Malwarebytes and run a scan It should clean up all the viruses that have been renamed.

and my disk is so small it can't handle it

so now i'm stuck with 43mb of space left on my disk

i've already done so much to clear my disk space: deleting all temp files (cache and others) and also disk clean ups

i've heard u can transfer certain parts of windows XP via Registry Editor

i was wondering how i would be able to transfer the Windows XP SP3 to another disk

i'm told that all changes CANNOT be undone so, i'm not calling anyone inexperienced or anything, just that i ask if u check what you tell me, because my laptop has to last me quite a while

i recently got a spyware, and when i started my computer, the wallpaper changed, and the spyware blocks all access to any programs. It won't let me run any programs, and every time i do, there's a %26quot;system security%26quot; bubble on the toolbar that says some .ddl file is corrupt. I have never installed a system security on my computer, and now it blocked all access to other programs and .exe installation files. Furthermore, it won't even let me run regedit or task manager.

How Should I Proceed In fixing my Problem?

Ok So I was installing some disc on my computer nothing harmful but after I installed them HP wanted me to do a update so I did and after I have an error %26quot;Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)%26quot; And I talked to Hp and they want about 99$ but before I go and use up money I looked on the internet and found information on my problem and I wanted to know if this information is correct:

    %26quot;Using Registry Editor

If updating the driver does not resolve the problem, it indicates that there is a problem in the registry. To fix this problem, you may have to remove a few keys from the registry.

Note: Be careful while working with the registry editor because changes done to the registry using the Registry Editor are irreversible and mistakes can leave you with more problems than when you started. Therefore, it is recommended that you make a backup of the registry before proceeding with the changes.

After you have removed the registry keys listed below, you will have to reinstall all applications that you use for CD or DVD recording to make them work properly.

To fix the error by editing the registry, perform the following steps:

1.Exit and close all applications currently running on your PC.

2.On Start %26gt; Run type Regedit and press the Enter key.

3.Next, navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContr?Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

4.Delete any of the following registry entries if they exist under this key:

    鈼owerFilters

    鈼owerFilters.bak

    鈼pperFilters

    鈼pperFilters.bak

5.Restart your PC and open My Computer to ensure that the CD-ROM drive is visible.

    6.Also, open the Device Manager again to ensure that the yellow exclamation mark and the error code is now gone.%26quot;

Please tell me as quick as possible if I should go ahead and do this instead of paying 100$! for a random indian Hp worker to take over my computer and do it for me

Thanks! How Should I Proceed In fixing my Problem?
    1. Search far and wide for the drivers on the merchant websites.

    2. Download software that will find the right drivers and install them all automatically.

I used to do it on my own until I discovered how easy it was to download drivers with driver update software. My favorite program is available at: http://www.best-driver-updater.com/

i.e my main line has a double connector 1 for the tel and 1 for the router I changed the this double connector and this seem to have fixed the problem might be worth a goWhy Does My Wireless Laptop Go Into Limited Or Local? *Update*?
Basically it has nothing to do with your computer its more to do with the provider you use and with towers they use, so its just like have a mobile that has no reception. your wireless has no reception in parts where it does not able to pick up on any signals. Why Does My Wireless Laptop Go Into Limited Or Local? *Update*?
It's absolutely nothing to do with your wireless connection.

The fact that it's telling you it has local connection means it's working.

What's not working is the internet connection from your router to your service provider.

you should check for spyware, and try some tweaks from web

and disable theme service or go to control panel, system, advanced performance setting and set it for best performance

that will help and try some registry cleaner and you should defrg. your driver at least once a week. My one has 320 mb ram but

    runs fast

and about taskmgr u should try task manager pro or you can check it through web

and if your graphic cards is less than 32mb u should buy one

AND there is lot of registry tweaks you can check that alsoWindows XP is slow?

Got infected by "the skull" virus... how can I remove that? please help!?

    Hi everybody.

I got infected by the skull virus. it happened while I turned off my norton 360 for a few moments... I know I shouldn't have done that....

I made norton scan the whole system, it deleted some files but some stuff are still there. for example when i right-click on a partition, one of the options is %26quot;theskull.com%26quot;...

So I went to regedit and made a search for everyhting containing %26quot;skull%26quot; and I could track the changes made in my registry. I'm running windows vista home premium 64-bit. So if anyone can look in his regedit and tell me what are the original values so I can rechange them, I guess this will work. by the way, all the %26quot;autorun.info%26quot; files are now messed up but I guess this would fix by fixing the registry. so here are the adresses in the registry where things got messed up.:

    regedit%26gt; HKEY_current_user%26gt;software%26gt;microsoft%26gt;win?version%26gt;explorer%26gt;mount points 2%26gt; {6a26d49c-8352-11de-b231-00238bdc50da} %26gt; shell

and in shell I get the following folders open, explore, autorun, autoplay, and %26quot;the skull virus%26quot; folder.

I didn't try to delete anything cause it might make things worse. could you please tell me what you find in these directories on your PCs and what are the values of each so I replace them??

Being a poor man, I am wondering if it is possible to use regedit to manualy repair entries like the following without having to come out of pocket for the full version of the software( wich will make the repairs along with identify the errors.) I've downloaded Hijackthis and when I open it, the file disappears. Even if I do a search of the entire hard drive, the file is gone.

If I browse (via firefox) to an avg download site, the browser closes immediately. I only got the avg setup file onto the computer by networking it to another computer that had the setup file already on it.

The exact same thing happens with AVG as with HIjackThis. The file suddenly just disappears (including the icon) and a search shows no evidence that the file was ever there.

Malwarebytes can be installed in safe mode but not Superantispyware. Download either Superantispyware or Malwarebytes. In my opinion these go hand and hand with each other because what one misses the other picks up. If you are using Internet Explorer I recommend using Mozilla Firefox because there is a less chance of malware targeting this browser, although it is still possible. If you have problems downloading or installing the malware removal tools please send an email to me and I will give you a step by step advice to fix this. Malware tends to block the download and installation of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and websites. I recommend scanning in safe mode because a lot of times safe mode disables malware but this is not totally accurate. You can access safe mode by tapping F8 when your computer restarts, make sure to go into safe mode with networking to update the malware removal tools. I also recommend turning off system restore because users can restore their PC back to an infected state. You can do this by right clicking my computer, select properties, select system restore, and select turn off system restore.

Update and do a quick scan with Malwarebytes and a full scan with Superantispyare to get rid of any malware that is installed on your PC. I recommend doing a scan with only one of these tools at a time because there may be complications. Once the removal process is finished restart your computer and turn system restore back on. Run Ccleaner and delete temporary files and invalid registry entries. If you have any questions email me at dejay19826@yahoo.com

My computer has been recently invaded. Luckily, I was able to save most of my needed things on a CD. However, this virus has taken complete control. It has actually set itself as the overall administrator, so now I, the real administrator, am continuously limited. I tried msconfig, it won't allow. I tried regedit for registry, it won't allow. Many programs won't even start. I can't even change my desktop background. I tried Malwarebytes, AVG, and some others. Those barely even stratched it's effect. Please may you help me. I believe that this is a Cryptor Trojan Horse or something if that helps. Thank you.How can I get of this virus?

Need help from someone with the Sims 2?

I need someone to help me find the U.S. regional code. Now to help me you will need to have purchased your game in the U.S. and have the 12 hour clock (AM/PM) running in your game. It should only take 5 minutes and you will not have to change anything, you will just have to find a code for me. I will walk you through step by step how to find it. If you follow my directions it will not be any problem just as long as you know how to click.

    1. Click on start and then run

    2. Open regedit.exe

    3. Now click on the plus sign by HK local machine

    4. Then the plus sign by software

    5. Then the plus sign by EA games

    6. Click on the NAME not the + of the sims2 you run ( does not matter if it is expansion pack or not they are all the same) just click on the one you use to start the sims 2.

    7. Now you should have a table of information

    8. Look for Region under name

    9. Once you find it look across the row and there should be a code. Make sure you line up the rows right.Need help from someone with the Sims 2?

I need help really bad pls.. Its about directx?

ok so here's my story one day my older brother just updated my directx to 11. now all my games stopped working and he said he wont help me because if he breaks something my parents will blame him. So i looked online for like 5 hours everyday and i still dnt know how to change it back to 9.0c. or just degrade it or something. i just dnt want it directx 11. so i heard that if u erase your direct x file on regedit on run everything would go back to normal wrong. i tried it deleted my directx file and nothing happened so theres my story. i dont how to make the file reappear i i dont know how to do everything so anyone pls help me with my directx 11 to directx 9.0c mission. PLSSSS!!! Thank youI need help really bad pls.. Its about directx?
DirectX 11 is backwards compatible so it will work great for older games that used 9.0 or earlier older versions.

Before you try to remove it, try this test first - it will only take a minute or two. Click on the start button, then click on %26quot;run%26quot;. In the box type the following %26quot;dxdiag%26quot; but don't use the quotation marks. When the test is completed, you will get a report stating if any errors were found or not.

Since your brother did the update, have you checked for recent driver updates for your graphics/video card?

If nothing above helps, you can try doing a system restore and hopefully it can undo the changes your brother made. Just pick a date before he did the update.I need help really bad pls.. Its about directx?
i think your current graphic card doesn't support directx 11. wipe directx 11 from your hard drive and re install it from this link, or reinstall one of the games, because they usually have a copy of the directx version they use, and prompt you for installation when you install the game.

    hope this works for you

Can someone help me with a computer problem? I will award the highest points that I am able to award.?

Ok, this is for the people who really know what they are doing on the computer and about registry's on a computer. I went on this site that offers different things about he computer and how to fix them. My problem is that my desktop picture went away. I am not able to change my desktop background. Do you know how you usually right click, them properties, then the desktop tab, then you choose your background? Well I cant do that. The site tells me to do the following:

    Click Start

    Click Run

    Type: regedit

Navigate to the following registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Win?br>

%26quot;Wallpaper%26quot;=SZ:C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html (yours might be slightly different)

Click one time on the entry

    Push Delete on the keyboard

    Click Yes

    Close the Registry editor

I did all that, but I am still stuck and my problem is still not fixed. I deleted the two things in my registry under the SYSTEM tab that said %26quot;NoDispBackgroundPage%26quot; and %26quot;NoDispScrSavPage.%26quot; That did not fix my problem. When I right click on my desktop and click properties then the desktop tab, the part that lets you choose the pictures for your background is still gray and un-clickable. I am not even able to browse for a picture to use as the background. I scanned my computer with SpyBot - S/D, and Malwarebytes' Antimalware and deleted all the infected material. And I should state that in my list of backgrounds there are a couple of webpages and I don't understand what that is. Is there any way that I can get my desktop choices back? The only thing that I have left in the SYSTEM registry is a thing that says %26quot;Default%26quot; and the type is %26quot;REG_SZ%26quot;, which I do not understand what that means. Am I supposed to delete that also or just leave it? And since I deleted the parts that say %26quot;NoDispBackgroundPage%26quot; and %26quot;NoDispScrSavPage%26quot;, will that mess up my computer?

There is one more problem that I have. Do you know how on the taskbar there is the clock in the lower right hand corner and you have those little %26quot;quick icons%26quot; as I call them? I do not know their full terminology, they maybe notifications. But anyway, there is an icon there that is red and has a white %26quot;X%26quot; on it. Now when I click on the %26quot;X%26quot; (right click that is) to try and close it out, it takes me to a website called Real Antivirus and it says to download a free try to clean your computer of viruses, but I have Norton and a couple of other virus protections, so I did not download that. But how do I get rid of that?

Can somebody please help? I would appreciate it very much. I know that this is a lot, and I will award the highest points that I am allowed to give for answering this question for me. Again, I would like someone who knows their computers and computer registry's to answer this question as to not mess up my computer because it cost me a lot of money and I cant afford for it to be messed up and have to get a new one. And, again I would appreciate your help. Can someone help me with a computer problem? I will award the highest points that I am able to award.?
First, go recheck what you did and see if it's still in effect. That icon in the Notification area makes me wonder if something isn't still on your machine.

If what you did hasn't been reset, try doing this also:

    1. Using the left-hand pane, navigate to this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ ActiveDesktop

    2. In the right-hand pane there might be a value named NoChangingWallPaper. If so, delete it.

    3. Try changing the wallpaper. If it still doesn檛 work, restart the machine and try again.

I've attached a link to a site that may have more help if that doesn't work.

Good luck. Can someone help me with a computer problem? I will award the highest points that I am able to award.?
i think you have got a little bit confused about the registry changes

might actually be an easier and safer to roll your computer back to its last restore point

Even then if I go into regedit %26amp; try to delete the key that is hiding that tab, I am unable to delete it. Does anyone know of any other way to either decrease the font size in Windows XP or even delete that annoying registry key that is causing the problem? Thanks.I am at work %26amp; just started up my computer %26amp; noticed that the font size is HUGE on everything in Windows (XP).?
Well normally I'd be all for self help, but if you have an IT department, you may be irritated, but its your right, nay your duty, to bug them. Call them over till they fix the thing.

  • How can I get of this virus?

My computer has been recently invaded. Luckily, I was able to save most of my needed things on a CD. However, this virus has taken complete control. It has actually set itself as the overall administrator, so now I, the real administrator, am continuously limited. I tried msconfig, it won't allow. I tried regedit for registry, it won't allow. Many programs won't even start. I can't even change my desktop background. I tried Malwarebytes, AVG, and some others. Those barely even stratched it's effect. Please may you help me. I believe that this is a Cryptor Trojan Horse or something if that helps. Thank you.How can I get of this virus?
do boot time scans not while your operating system is up and the virus might have a backup to recopy itself. if not reinstall windows completly after you format your driveHow can I get of this virus?

Use your system disk from manufacture and completely reload your operating system. How can I get of this virus?
Go to Control panel and click on User Accounts and see which account has been termed as Administrator.

Let me be very clear, Your System has NOT BEEN infected with Virus. How can I get of this virus?
Easiest Fix: Back up all of your data, (Excluding exe, dll, etc. This prevent polymorphic virus to spread again) and Re Install your windows. Your comp will run fast.

Other fix: Use some commercial antivirus like Norton, NOD32, or Bitdefender. Just use the trial. When the trial expire you can throw it to the trash. Norton 2009 is good and not really eating your resource.

Can find this directory in reg?

Here are the instructions I was given:

    1) Install and run the application.

    2) Run regedit (or regedit32 for Windows 2000, in the system32 directory).

    3) Locate the KCOH (or similar, running from memory here) directory under Software/Cryptic

    4) Change the Locale value to 0

    5) Now modify the security permission for the KCOH directory and remove or deny all permissions except %26quot;Read%26quot;

Now run the app and it should run in English

How do i make my zune a removable disk of hard drive (i want to put my files on it like programs as backup?

i followed this exactly as it says and it doesn't work, i cant see it in my computer at all

    1. Make sure your Zune is not plugged in and your Zune software isn't running

    2. open up regedit by going to the start menu and selecting %26quot;run%26quot;. Type regedt32 and hit %26quot;OK%26quot;

    3. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\?

    4. Search for %26quot;PortableDeviceNameSpace%26quot;. This should be contained in the Vid_%26amp;Pid_\_-__-_?Parameters within the above ...\USB\ The 's listed here will be numbers and letters specific to your Zune

    5. Change the following values: * EnableLegacySupport to 1 * PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell to 0 * ShowInShell to 1

    6. Plug in your Zune, and make sure the Zune Software starts up. 7. Hopefully at this point you can open up %26quot;My Computer%26quot; and browse your device, though it does NOT show up as a drive letter. How do i make my zune a removable disk of hard drive (i want to put my files on it like programs as backup?
When I took a look at my registry since the 2.0 firmware update, there appeared to be multiple registry keys under %26quot;PortableDeviceNameSpace%26quot;. Check every key under the USB folder.

But, even then, you cannot use your zune as a portable hard drive; it denies you access to copy files. So it is basically useless to do that.

  • Locked out of Windows XP, how do I get back in?

Well I'm now locked out of XP.

I basically disabled my admin accounts in regedit, I set the Administrator to 0 instead of 1.

I wanted windows to just boot up into windows and for me not to have to select the admin icon, sadly it appears I have disabled the wrong thing.

I need to change it back but now when I boot up it asks me to select an account, but there is no account, no admin no user.

Its the same in safe mode, I have no way of getting into my pc, and I'm panicking.

Each time I come to the windows screen Im at the screen where it asks me to click an account but there is no account anymore so I'm stuck.

Is there anyway around this otherwise Im seriously screwed !!

I have so much work on this pc and so much personal stuff, 'm going to lose, can anyone help me get back in, just so I can change the settings.?

My Documents Keeps Opening Virus Windows Vista SP1...Solution?

My Documents opens about every 2 minutes and I can not figure out how to make it stop. I recently had the Internet Security 2010 Virus and got rid of it with Spyware Doctor. I am also running AVG Anit-Virus software, but neither program seems to help. I have also done alot of internet research to try and see if I could somehow resolve the problem. I have checked in the regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon

    and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Advanced

In RHS panel, change value of %26quot;PersistBrowsers%26quot; to 0

But nothing had been changed and the problem is persisting. I think it might have something to do with a program that is running at startup labeled Microsoft Windows host process (Rundll32), but I am not sure. I have read that this might be a legit file, and I really don't know how to tell, or what to do about it if it is a file the virus is using to open My Documents over and over. I have also ran %26quot;Hijackthis%26quot; in order to create a log to tell if my browser has been hijacked. Here is the log...

For one, you do not have the SP2 which came out in May of 09 and you may want to check for malware, Try free of malwarebytes , get it here.http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ~

Edit : Post your log here and have it analyzed http://www.hijackthis.de/My Documents Keeps Opening Virus Windows Vista SP1...Solution?
Same problem here, it has popped up twice in the past week, both times after extended internetting. First time I had to fix it with a restore, running vista x64, comodo and AVG but it still got thru.

This time I tried Malawarebytes as mentioned above and it fixed the problem.

How do I use reg.exe to complete this task? ?

I have an issue in windows xp. When I login to my user account the account logs off immediately placing me back on the login screen. I also have the same issue in safemode. I have found this is due to a key in the registry that has been altered by malware.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\…

    Edit the Value “Userinit”

To %26quot;C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe,%26quot; and not %26quot;C:\WINDOWS\system32\Explorer.exe,%26quot;. include the comma.

Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT. Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\…

    In the right-pane, change the value of Userinit to %26quot;C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,%26quot;

Type the above value exactly as given, including the comma - exclude the quotes. Also, change the path to userinit.exe appropriately if Windows is installed in a different drive.

Close Registry Editor and restart Windows.

How do I access lpt1 on a win xp computer exactly the same as on a win98se computer?

I have a computer that did have win98se as an OS on it, and a program that accessed the lpt1 for reading and writing, I have had to switch that same computer to use windows xp home edition. The program I had on the same computer using win98se worked fine but now that this same computer now has winxp home on it the program works up to the part that it accesses the read write function of the lpt1 at which point it cannot find the device the program controls.

I have been told that win98se would read and write direcctly to the lpt1 where winxp home does something to correct a security problem with the lpt1 which make my program fail when accessing the lpt1. You might say %26quot;use the compatability mode%26quot; I have tried this but it does not change the way the program can access the lpt1. I have tried the vmware virtual computer program and use it to load a copy of win98se then run the program which works perfectly this way. But I don't want to have to have two complete operating systems on my computer and I do not want to have to wait so long for the vmware to load win98se and then the program just to use it.

Nown you might also say to contact the program supplier, well I did and here is the solution according to them, purchase the new program that fixes this problem. Well the original program cost me $1500.00 just a year ago and the wonderfull company sells the new program for a fantastic price of $1500.00, I am not happy that this company will not give me a product support upgrade for a lesser price when the only differance is that it works on xp, the program is good but not worth $3000.00.

You might also say just go back to win98se, well because of networking and other programs that our company switched to that is also impossable.

I am thinking that if vmware can access the lpt1 the way win98se did there must be a way to do the same in winxp without needing to take the time and space needed to use this program in vmware under winxp home.

Is there a driver that will let xp use the lpt1 exactly the way win98se did? Is there something I could %26quot;set%26quot; in xp to get the lpt1 to work the same as it did in 98se?

It just seems like there are so many ways to still use this program but none of them seems to allow it to work in xp directly without going threw a tone of crap to get it to work.

Please help if you know a way. By the way, I do know my systems fairly well and can use regedit without fear and I know how to get around the computer very well, like I know what the bios is and what it does and how to change thing in it, and other more thing that the average user normally doesn't know how to do.How do I access lpt1 on a win xp computer exactly the same as on a win98se computer?

What is going on with my laptop?

My laptop has been having problems.

At first, the only thing that happened was that sometimes, after I closed the laptop to put it in standby and then later opened it, the screen would stay black. The power light would change from yellow to blue as if the computer had successfully resumed. When I moved the mouse or pressed keys, nothing happened, nor when I pressed the power button briefly (as if to take it out of a standby begun through the shutdown menu). Closing the laptop changed nothing; the power light remained blue, and re-opening it would still not wake it up.

Then, the screen started going black in the middle of using the computer, and would be similarly unresponsive. This has been happening with increasing frequency, and seems to mostly happen when I do something that increases the memory load. However, it does not seem to be related to how much the load is increased or how much the total load is; I have had it crash when I clicked the play button on a Youtube video, but I have played Civilization IV for hours with no incident. The problem seems to mainly occur when a new process is started, but it also happens randomly when nothing new is started.

Most recently, I have found that some program settings are reverting entirely to their default values after a crash. This has happened twice now; the first time it was Google Chrome that lost settings, and the second time it happened to both Chrome and Skype.

System: Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3; I am completely up-to-date with Windows Updates

Hardware: Toshiba Satellite A105 -- S4094; all hardware is stock except for an upgraded hard drive

    Antivirus: AVG Free Edition 9.0

    Browser: Google Chrome

I run CCleaner fairly frequently; I have it clear index.dat, various IE history data, %26quot;Run...%26quot; prompt history, system search autocomplete, other explorer MRUs, recycle bin contents, temporary system files, the clipboard, memory dumps, chkdsk file fragments, windows log files, DNS cache, and various Firefox history data. It also clears data (though it does not specify WHAT data) from Adobe Reader, MS Office Picture Manager, MS Office, OpenOffice, Google Toolbar Firefox, Sun Java, Flash player, Quicktime player, Quicktime player cache, Real player, Windows Media Player, 7-Zip, AVG, WinRAR, MS Paint, Wordpad, and RegEdit. I also use CCleaner to scan the registry for errors and to correct them.

I keep AVG updated, and I run a scan almost daily.

What I usually have running at any given time is Digsby, Skype, and Chrome.

Does anyone know what is going on here? What is going on with my laptop?
wow could be any number of things, I would start by running some diagnostics tests on the hard drive and memory.

go to : http://www.ultimatebootcd.com and download the UBCD 4.1.1 ISO image and burn that .iso file to a CD using either NERO (right click on fight and select open with and then Nero) OR a program called IMGBurn if you don't have Nero (free download Google it)

this CD is to be booted to by restarting the computer with that CD in the drive and allowing the computer to boot FROM CD.

it may be necessary to go into your BIOS and change the boot order to prioritize the CDROM higher than the Hard drive.

I would suggest running DFT (drive fitness test) first to check out your hard drive. do the advanced test.

and then run memtest86 to check out your ram.

if those pass then you may unfortunately have a bad motherboard or LCD power inverter.

  • How to get rid of blue-jokescreen?

Hi, so, lately I've gotten this blue-jokescreen and I can't get rid of it. My background has changed into a completely blue screen with yellow writing that says I need to get spyware to remove it. Obviously, it's only a background. However, McAffee keeps popping out notices to Remove it and even if I do, it returns. Also, I cannot change my background to my normal one and my computer's going much slower and it's lagging. I've already tried Regedit and tried to find it but it wasn't there. I also had the Spyware 2008 or whatever installed on my computer the same day the blue-jokscreen came. I didn't install it on purpose -- it just appeared on my desktop. Please help me or recommend a Spyware remover that's free. /: Thank you in advance! How to get rid of blue-jokescreen?

So i have company coming over and im setting up a guest user with restrictions. Iv dont some of the things before i just cant remember how.

Either using regedit or a program how can i:

    Disable downloads and installs

    Disable viewing/usage of control Panel

    Disable ability to delete

Disable ability to change properties of Desktop (or everything)

A good link to a web page (not a search engine and faulty link), name of program or instructions (where the above listed are in regedit cuz i can do from there) how to do these would workSetting user restrictions on XP Pro?
To set user restrictions in XP you have to use GPEdit, which modifies the local group policy for your machine. You want to make all of your changes under the user settings not the machine settings. If you make the changes to the machine your account will be included.

I followed someone's post on how to fix it on another thread where it told me:

Open Registry Editor. Click Start%26gt;Run, type REGEDIT, then press Enter.

In the left panel, double-click the following:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE%26gt;SOFTWARE%26gt;Microsoft%26gt;?br>
    NT%26gt;CurrentVersion%26gt;Winlogon

In the right panel, locate the entry:

    Userinit = %26quot;%System%\wscript.... %26quot;%system%\killVBS.vbs%26quot;

    Change entry to: %System%\userinit.exe

Now when i turn on the computer, my desktop background shows up, but then it goes straight back to the Welcome screen and wont login.

After a few times, it shows %26quot;Administrator%26quot; but when you click on it, it'll say %26quot;loading your settings%26quot;, shows desktop background then goes back to the welcome screen with %26quot;saving your settings%26quot;. And ends with the Administrator again.

Is there a way to fix this? Can i reverse what i've entered in the Regedit?? Its driving me mad!Killvbs.vbs error - Windows XP wont log in!?
Can you boot into safe mode? You could possibly edit the registry from there.

How do I fix this file extension?

I downloaded some gadgets fro the Windows Vista Sidebar and wanted to install them, but they wouldn't open. I tried to change the application the .gadget files open with and accidentally changed it to adobe reader, then i changed it to windows sidebar. Each time I open it, it just brings Windows Sidebar to the front of other windows. I've also found out that it opens with the actual Windows Operating System, just like executable do. Can someone tell me how to fix this. I've already tried to delete the extension using regedit.exe.How do I fix this file extension?
It may be easier just to delete and re-download them.

  • Complicated Windows Vista help: calling all computer experts!?

I Google searched the new Windows 7 and I found a website saying how to change the settings of Vista to add hidden features that would be in Windows 7, so I clicked on it. Please don't blame me for taking advice from a website to change computer settings, I admit, it wasn't the smartest thing to do. Anyways, it was to change the taskbar to show only icons and not the icon + text of open programs, which is supposed to be something in Windows 7. Here is what it said to do:

Speaking of %26quot;iconizing,%26quot; Windows 7 uses nothing but icons on the taskbar, even for programs that are currently running. If you like the idea of doing away with the text that traditionally accompanies taskbar program icons, a simple Registry tweak will make it happen.

Click Start, type regedit, and press Enter.

Find and click the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics value.

In the right pane, right click in an open space and choose New, String Value

Name the string MinWidth, and then set the value to -255.

Exit the Registry Editor, and restart your system.

So I did all of that. I shut down my system, then I turn it back on and it won't load Windows correctly, so I try all of the options such as %26quot;Safe Mode%26quot;, or %26quot;Commands Prompt%26quot; and all of the other ones and they all result in the same thing, restarting the computer and asking the same thing. It then told me to insert my Windows installation disk and restart, then follow the options for languages, then click %26quot;Repair Computer%26quot;. So I put the disk in and restarted it, but it just came up as the same thing as before, when there was no disk. So I then chose to run %26quot;Windows Memory Diagnostics.%26quot; It went through those tests and now it's doing the same thing as before. Please help soon!!! Thank you so much.Complicated Windows Vista help: calling all computer experts!?

Can someone help me with my problem with yahoo messenger?

I had the previous messenger, but decided to get the newer one. So I clicked upgrade to messenger 9 now on that window that comes up when you sign in. Ok sounds ok, right? well after i did that i clicked the appropriate things and downloaded the new messenger. Only thing is no matter how many times i download it and uninstall it every time i want to use it this window comes up saying %26quot;Yahoo! Messenger has stopped working. Windows is checking for a soution.%26quot; and it looks as if it is loading. ok so when it finishes the bar like is is loading the messsage changes to %26quot; A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windos will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.%26quot; I do not undestand i uninstall it and reinstall it and every time i try to use messenger now I am unable to. Please can someone help me with this.

    someone suggested :

%26quot; make sure you update all to the latest drivers via windows update

Make sure messenger is off, then go to regedit then open up HKEY CURRENT USER then open up SOFTWARE then open up MICROSOFT then open up WINDOWS then open up CURRENT VERSION then click on Internet Settings but dont open it just click on it then go half way down the list to find PROXY ENABLE,PROXY SERVER,PROXY OVERRIDE then click on PROXY ENABLE click modify binary and change from 0x00000000 (1) to 0x00000000 (0) then delete PROXY SERVER and PROXY OVERRIDE and there you go sign into messenger this has worked perfect for me hope it does for you.

    or

It's either one of the two:

    - Yahoo! servers are down for maintenance, the only fix would be to wait.

    - Your connection preferences are wrong:

    Messenger tab just above where you sign in and then click the Connection Preference option %26quot;

    but...

that whole first step that was said as a suggestion does not work because my thing is already 0x00000000 (0) so i dont need to change it and i dont see the other two that u say to delete.

i have waited for days, and still have the same problem. how long am I expected to wait for maint. ?

and i cant even get the messenger to open so how am i supposed to go to the messenger tab?

so please if anyone knows something that will help please let me know. It would be very much appreciated. :)Can someone help me with my problem with yahoo messenger?
I'm sorry I really can't help you, but that sucks!!!! Yahoo has been very weird lately. One suggestion, do you have Windows Service pack 3 loaded yet??? That might be part of your problem, I'm not sure, but if you don't update frikkin windows every minute of the day, then it gives you unexplained headaches. I hate PC's!!! If I could afford it I would buy a Mac like I used to use back in the day!!

I met this before, it must be done by unknown trojan, it always creates harmful registry item key.

If you cant find the matrix of trojan, you cant win against this.

So I will give you my advices as follow, if you wanna win against this, not reinstall OS.

    1. Update your antivirus program or use special antitrojan tool.

    2. Try a registry guarder to scan errors and restore it.

    3. Try another spywarecease tool like this.

It isnt a good choice to edit registry manually unless you know your want exactly.
