Block access to regedit in Windows XP Home SP1?

This might be a geeky question, but I檒l ask it anyway. I want to upgrade a PC from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I檝e reinstalled XP a few times on my own computer, so that檚 not the issue. It檚 one that my cousin檚 kids use when they are at their grandmothers. But I want to be able to block access to the registry editor in the default account, so that they cannot accidentally make any harmful changes.

I want to have an account for me that will give me unlimited access to the entire system for backing up their files, system changes, maintenance etc. But I also want the kids to have just enough access so that they will be able to install programs and any hardware (i.e. memory sticks) for school work. Is there a way to completely customise the default account setup so that all new accounts are based on it, but leave me the access I need?

(I do know how to access the hidden Administrator account through Safe Mode)Block access to regedit in Windows XP Home SP1?

You should download some open free softwares that are available in internet.

The softwares help you to Manage your system with security, blocking unwanted users to access, creating hidden administrator account and many other features.

you may hide the run command by your start menu properties.

Uncheck the mark-Run command in your start menu properties.

you should check this site for required softwares-

it's called making a guest account my friend. go to Control panel, User Accounts, and then click on Change accounts, activate the guest account. when you do that you'll also see the Administrator account, click on that and set your own password. and set a password for the guest account the same way.Block access to regedit in Windows XP Home SP1?

Hi ! Type GPEDIT.MSC in run and this opens up group policy editor. You can change the policies for various users as you like.
