The simplest way is to reinstall Windows
it will Prompt for new data at the end of install
when it goes to reregister your windows online
Didn't get the Install CD? then your copy of windows
is considered illegal by microsoft
You won't find the previous users name
in the registry for the windows install
It may appear on a find/search for other software
products that don't encrypt the informationHow do I edit my computer info?
Ok try this.
Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\?NT\CurrentVersion
In the right pane, double click RegisteredOwner and change the Value data.
To navigate means to find the first key which is HKEY _LOCAL_MACHINE,click on the plus sign the go down to SOFTWARE etc.
It's quite easy really.
hope this helps
by the way,not having an install cd does not constitute an illegal copy, many brand name systems come with windows preinstalled with recovery disks.it's called OEM and is quite common and legal.although you should be given a cd it's not unusual. How do I edit my computer info?

It really doesn't take that long to do.
Be very careful making tweaks to the registry though. One mess up and your machine could give you serious problems. If it does, reboot, press F8 at the BIOS screen and choose Last Known Good Configuration. Reboot and things should be back to normal. How do I edit my computer info?
If you don't have the original windows xp cd then you can use xteq, it's a free windows hack tool for changing just about anything. Get it here:
Apparently it's called x-setup pro now:
