Does Anyone Know Anything? Why Does My Wireless Laptop Go Into Limited Or Local? *Update*?
I had the same problem with my SKY broadband my connection was either all OK or it would come up with the limited and local thing i rang SKY about 6 times and they would get me to reset my router and it would work fine but a few days later the same thing would happen again in the end i got through to their IT department who advised a few things and one of these things was to change the actual connector that's connected to the phone socket.
i.e my main line has a double connector 1 for the tel and 1 for the router I changed the this double connector and this seem to have fixed the problem might be worth a goWhy Does My Wireless Laptop Go Into Limited Or Local? *Update*?
Basically it has nothing to do with your computer its more to do with the provider you use and with towers they use, so its just like have a mobile that has no reception. your wireless has no reception in parts where it does not able to pick up on any signals. Why Does My Wireless Laptop Go Into Limited Or Local? *Update*?
It's absolutely nothing to do with your wireless connection.
The fact that it's telling you it has local connection means it's working.
What's not working is the internet connection from your router to your service provider.

Windows XP is slow?
my computer hs got both XP and 98.
XP is very slow . RAM is 512 MB (single) , but still XP is very slow . the games and other
applications are quick . also certain things such as %26quot;regedit%26quot; , task manager donot work . a messsage comes %26quot; another program is currently using this file%26quot; . adaware donot find any object which is very critical . right click on start bar , and then %26quot;task manager%26quot; nothing comes . also the way search results display in %26quot;search%26quot; has also changed . i hav disabled all except 2 in the msconfig startup list . but still its slow. is there any prob with registry ? how can u clean up the registry and start from the begining ? i once reinstalled XP but the same desktop came afetr al tht process . theres sumthing called %26quot;great memo%26quot; which even adaware dint find , but i deleted it from its folder . yahoo msngr takes bit longtime to sign in too; but games are quick. but therse no prob in 98 . yahoo msgr is super quick in 98 . so wats the problem ? is it spyware ? or probsWindows XP is slow?
Well XP is not slow,,the problem is with your Hardware Configuration.
Your Hardware Configuration is too Odd and that's why XP is unable to support it ,, so it Slow.Windows XP is slow?
use only XP as 98 support has been removed by Microsoft...Windows XP is slow?
mine is slow tooWindows XP is slow?
Have you tried defragmenting your driver?Windows XP is slow?
My XP is slow too at times
I clear my cache a lot
AND do many Disk Cleanups %26amp; it STILL goes SLOWWindows XP is slow?
probably your system have a Virus or Your WinXP not Original.
if Yor system not Have a Virus and your WinXp is Original you must USe a Optimizer Software (I Choose WINXPMANAGER).Windows XP is slow?
Your HDD could be seriously fragmented, or the registry damaged!Windows XP is slow?
reinstall your windows and if you can i suggest that repartion and reformat your hard disk drive.
for increase the speed you can disable visual effects of windows xp :
mycomputer properties -%26gt; advanced -%26gt; preformance setting-%26gt; adjust for best preformance
and too you can increase size of virtual memory here:
mycomputer properties -%26gt; advanced -%26gt; preformance setting-%26gt; advance tab -%26gt; virtual memory -%26gt; change
also you can delete any file with *.tmp extention and clean the history an offline files of internet explorer
if you hove too many software installed on you pc remove any unusable ones ..Windows XP is slow?
you should check for spyware, and try some tweaks from web
and disable theme service or go to control panel, system, advanced performance setting and set it for best performance
that will help and try some registry cleaner and you should defrg. your driver at least once a week. My one has 320 mb ram but
runs fast
and about taskmgr u should try task manager pro or you can check it through web
and if your graphic cards is less than 32mb u should buy one
AND there is lot of registry tweaks you can check that alsoWindows XP is slow?

Got infected by "the skull" virus... how can I remove that? please help!?
Hi everybody.
I got infected by the skull virus. it happened while I turned off my norton 360 for a few moments... I know I shouldn't have done that....
I made norton scan the whole system, it deleted some files but some stuff are still there. for example when i right-click on a partition, one of the options is %26quot;theskull.com%26quot;...
So I went to regedit and made a search for everyhting containing %26quot;skull%26quot; and I could track the changes made in my registry. I'm running windows vista home premium 64-bit. So if anyone can look in his regedit and tell me what are the original values so I can rechange them, I guess this will work. by the way, all the %26quot;autorun.info%26quot; files are now messed up but I guess this would fix by fixing the registry. so here are the adresses in the registry where things got messed up.:
regedit%26gt; HKEY_current_user%26gt;software%26gt;microsoft%26gt;win?version%26gt;explorer%26gt;mount points 2%26gt; {6a26d49c-8352-11de-b231-00238bdc50da} %26gt; shell
and in shell I get the following folders open, explore, autorun, autoplay, and %26quot;the skull virus%26quot; folder.
I didn't try to delete anything cause it might make things worse. could you please tell me what you find in these directories on your PCs and what are the values of each so I replace them??

Registry question?
I ran a registry fix program that returned many registry errors. Being a poor man, I am wondering if it is possible to use regedit to manualy repair entries like the following without having to come out of pocket for the full version of the software( wich will make the repairs along with identify the errors.) Can anyone instruct me on how to use regedit to remove an entry like this?
Key: %26quot;Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi?br>
File not found(C:\DOWNLOADS\01.mpeg)
Correction : Delete Entry
Correction : [0]Default (No changes made)
Correction : [1]Delete Entry

Registry Cleaners
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/
Myth - %26quot;Registry Cleaners improve performance.%26quot;
Reality - %26quot;A few hundred kilobytes of unused keys and values causes no noticeable performance impact on system operation. Even if the registry was massively bloated there would be little impact on the performance of anything other than exhaustive searches.%26quot;
Notes - %26quot;Registry Cleaners can fix problems associated with traces of applications left behind due to incomplete uninstalls. So it seems that Registry junk is a Windows fact of life and that Registry cleaners will continue to have a place in the anal-sysadmin's tool chest.%26quot;

How do I get rid of this virus (and what the hell is it)?
XP HOME.
Regedit disabled (I've tried the dougknox thing to no avail).
Taskmanager disabled.
I've downloaded Hijackthis and when I open it, the file disappears. Even if I do a search of the entire hard drive, the file is gone.
If I browse (via firefox) to an avg download site, the browser closes immediately. I only got the avg setup file onto the computer by networking it to another computer that had the setup file already on it.
The exact same thing happens with AVG as with HIjackThis. The file suddenly just disappears (including the icon) and a search shows no evidence that the file was ever there.
This is all in safemode.
Malwarebytes is set up to delete some malware it found upon reboot, but can't disable the registry block in order to delete them.
A restore does not change any of this.
Someone please tell me how I can get a program on here that will clean this computer up (please do not tell me to reformat)?

Malwarebytes can be installed in safe mode but not Superantispyware. Download either Superantispyware or Malwarebytes. In my opinion these go hand and hand with each other because what one misses the other picks up. If you are using Internet Explorer I recommend using Mozilla Firefox because there is a less chance of malware targeting this browser, although it is still possible. If you have problems downloading or installing the malware removal tools please send an email to me and I will give you a step by step advice to fix this. Malware tends to block the download and installation of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and websites. I recommend scanning in safe mode because a lot of times safe mode disables malware but this is not totally accurate. You can access safe mode by tapping F8 when your computer restarts, make sure to go into safe mode with networking to update the malware removal tools. I also recommend turning off system restore because users can restore their PC back to an infected state. You can do this by right clicking my computer, select properties, select system restore, and select turn off system restore.
Update and do a quick scan with Malwarebytes and a full scan with Superantispyare to get rid of any malware that is installed on your PC. I recommend doing a scan with only one of these tools at a time because there may be complications. Once the removal process is finished restart your computer and turn system restore back on. Run Ccleaner and delete temporary files and invalid registry entries. If you have any questions email me at dejay19826@yahoo.com
